Listening

Sunshine Kid

While perusing Radiohead’s Dear Air Space blog the other day, I came across an entry by someone calling himself “Colin,” who implored readers to seek out a new album by someone or something calling themselves “One Little Plane.” After a brief and painless amount of research, I discovered this “Colin” is right: There is a solo project by a certain Kathryn Bint going by that name, and the first album, Until, came out in the U.K. on Monday. The music is sometimes overly precious, but there are also strains of a Breeders-ish insouciance which are always welcome. As much as I like the noodly guitars, the thumpy bass, and the harmonium chorus, the song “Sunshine Kid” made it on this list for one thing: by signing off with a bicycle bell.
