Pity the Rich

“Only the little people pay taxes,” Leona Helmsley said in 1983, earning her the epithet “Queen of Mean.” Twenty-nine years later, a presidential candidate is similarly lampooned for complaining that the wealthy pay a disproportionate amount—a gaffe exacerbated by the one-year anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement. The rich, it seems, just can’t get a break.

In this edition of the TMN Weekender, a selection of stories about the little people. Ready to read here on TMN or in an e-book you can export to your Kindle, iPad, iPhone, etc.
