A new album from the Walkmen, called You & Me, will officially be released on Aug. 19. However, the entire album is currently available from the band’s online music store for just five bucks. All sales of the album will go to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where a seven-month-old friend of the band, Luca Vassallo, is a patient. Luca was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia in March, and he’s been undergoing chemotherapy at the Center’s pediatric unit ever since. As if the cause alone weren’t good enough, one of the songs up for sale is “In the New Year,” one of those great songs in which the Walkmen manage to balance a fine line between wistful and celebratory, as they do on some of their best work.
