One can’t help but get swept up by it all. This is a rock n’ roll life-affirmer that’ll last for months, way past the stadiums where we sang, past gutters that you fell you into. Things change, but we’ll keep singing, we’ll keep falling, and we’ll keep helping each other up. Herein the Hold Steady set out their stall and thank their fans for their support, something paid back with an album full of positive hardcore jams like “Stay Positive.” Written whilst on the road, this intro to a positive-hardcore record sounds like they never stopped going; they just want to take some time to repeat their positivity, thank the fans, and keep the punk-rock spirit happy.
