This 1997 LP was the first Mogwai record I owned, given to me by a friend who bought it for the cover and then couldn’t stand the music. Four years later it sounds just as moody, crisp, and vibrant as the first time I heard it. The now-classic ‘Mogwai Fear Satan’ is an album standout, in its exploration of a broad range of themes, from emotional build-up to introspection through to destruction. Favorite tracks: ‘Tracy,’ ‘R U Still In 2 It,’ ‘Mogwai Fear Satan’
